NEVER put a red top AND a yellow top together, ask optima, they will tell you the same! and john, why put the blue top in? it is just a marine version of the yellow top

the blue top does not have extra connections. they have the same as the 34/78 (might be a little off on the model, but it is the version with normal posts and GM posts) get that version of the red or the yellow top. just don't use the GM posts for heavy applications, they are not rated for winching, etc.
dual batteries are not bad, yellow vs. red depends on why you want them. winching, etc. use yellow, for lower current stuff (i.e. lights, stereo) use the red.

if you run optima's, put both in the back in battery boxes for better weight distrobution. are you plaining on drag racing your trail rig

if you are gonna be winching, it would def help relieve some of the stress on your alternator, an upgraded alternator would be a good idea too.

Better weight distribution first off, second did you read what he drives? he has a ZJ, with a V8, not a whole lot of room under the hood. yes it could be done, but instead of spending the time, would rather put it in the back, and put something else under the hood in it's location like a air compressor or redneck airhorns or what ever doesn't weigh 80 pounds.
