Well i finished my front locker and all the "while your at its". Took it for a test ride around my land, it is much better , feels different and does tend to make me slide on snow coverd hills. ;D Can't wait for some dry testing! Bob

Nice work Bob..... that sounds like a great upgrade. Is it loud when driving/turning on dry pavement? I finished my front bumper and now I am on to messing with my carb. Still can't get it to run right...... drastic measures may be in order!!

Yea... I have heard a lot of people do that. You are running a weber right? I had Dominec check it out a while ago and he said that the the Carters were nothing but trouble ... save for a Howell kit. What gets me is that it runs great, even idles ok, it just that it stalls when I am driving and clutch in for a stoplight. I am going to try one or two more things and then it will be time to move on to another carb. Someone suggested a vacume leak but who knows....
Got ya on the locking hubs.... I was thinking about a locker in the rear where people say it makes noise when turing slowly on payment. You must be pumped!

Well i am locked in the rear as well, it clicks a little but thats it. Love it! I got the weber for a good deal. I have heard peaple talk about putting 4.0 injection on a 258, but i don't what it intails. Bob

i got the howell set up can't say enough good things about it. I'm locked in the rear and i barley notice it with 36" swamper's but with 31" all terrains it jumps' clicks bangs and makes the jeep lunge around slow corners i guess it depends on tires

The Weber carb I had on my '89 YJ was great!
I even managed to sneak it through the emissions test. ;D Yes, it really passed on its own.
That was by far one of the best repairs I made. The Jeep ran great, and pulled pretty well.

I was worried about running locked on the street but now that i am i can say its not an issue. The rear doesnt make any noise per say but it does lock up when accelerating around a corner for example, i dont find this to be a problem at all. The front is completly un noticble when on the road, a side from a click once in a while going around a corner, you would never even know it was there. I took it out this past weekend for the first time locked f/r. It was very uneven terrain with about 6-10 inches of wet snow on top. I gota say i was very impressed and felt a huge increase in control as apposed to the rumored loss of control from a front locker. Even going up snow covered steep rock faces was not an issue. I thought i would just throw this up for anybody considering a front locker thats having second thoughts Do It! ;D
