The RE drop brackets are looking like a pretty good idea. The only negative is that once i get new control arms (top and bottom) and the drop bracket kit, im looking at just about the same amount of $$$ as a damn long arm kit. Although i guess since the drop kit moves the lower arms forward half an inch i might be all set with the arms i have. I might try calling Rustys Offroad up and see what they recomend...

RE drop brackets it is ;D Thanks for all the input guys. They drop the top and bottom control arms and triangulate back into the crossmember, sounds really sturdy. Now i just need to find out if the stock upper control arms will stil work and if the lower fixed ones from skyjacker are the right length.

the lowers should be fine...but i would definately invest in som adj. uppers so you can dial out any vibs you might get from the front.

ummm i have 2cents. 1. Weld or bolt? Hmm well considering that the Department Of Transportation WILLNOT allow any welding of a truck's (gvw>10,000lbs) frame for fear of cracking and diminishing strength of the frame near the welds because of heat. Off road vehicles have great stresses as well as HD-Trucks. So all logic points at a tight bolt-on system. 2. Long arm on an XJ? .... Considering the stock control arms on the xj just about point at the ground with as small of a lift as 3" never mind a 6,8, or 10". Even adjustable control arms wont adjust enough for a larger lift, its just not safe/strong to have such acute angles on control arms like that....plus a long arm will give extreme droop on an axle where as the short arms will bind. Even better..Be crafty and weld up some heim-jointed long arms that bolt to brackets on the Trans crossmember.
