Im sure everyone has seen this question on other boards and forums, but im contemplating locking my front and rear axles. I was going to put a lock-right (or similar) in the front, and a powertrax no-slip (lunchbox locker) in the rear dana 35 along with moser or superior axle shafts. With this setup i could do all the work myself and ignore the $500+ labor charge and experience that a super 35 would reguire. I also dont mind the 3.55 gearing i have now and i dont plan on going bigger than the 33s i have now. Would a locked dana 35 with upgraded shafts be durable enough for offroad abuse?

if i was in your shoes, id be looking for a d44 that is empty and build it the way you want it. but if you want to keep the d35, id spend the money on the s35. the 30 spline shafts are worth every penny if you ask me and so is the ARB or detroit. a d35 locked even with alloy shafts is a disaster waiting to happen.

that seems to be the same reply on every other thread that involves locking a d35 with 33s. I guess ill just lock the front with a lock-right and skip doing anything with the rear axle for a while.

I havent had any problems with mine, I have a powertrax locker in the rear of my D35 and have had no problems whatsoever. It has been in there for more than a year and the jeep has seen its fair share of wheeling. Buy on on ebay for cheap money, they are always on there. Plus better axle kits. I'd say do it, unless you come across a d44 or 8.8 for some cheap money, somehow.

i have a lock right in my 35..it took a lil getting use to driving on the street..taking sharp turns under a lil power can be a lil shaky. i run 33s with 307s i use low a lot but its just temp. i plan on running 44s with arbs and 456s or88s. the hardest part of the rear lock right was geting the c=clips back in. if you have a small amount of micanical abilty and patience it can be done. i dont think its worth the exsta monie for the no slip..

im sure you could find one locally and then get the brackets from RE or MORE and ask a fellow club member realy nicely and they might weld it up for you.
also jeepsareus.com sells d44 housings empty for like 900 i belive.

theres people selling the XJ ones complete for ~400 i'm sure you could get one for the tj.
