I am just curious if anyone has used or is firmiliar with the Toys by Troy oil pan skid or the Nth degree skid. Looking at them but have never seen them in person or heard anything about them. Any info would be cool...vince

I looked at the nth degree one, its not bad for a bolt on. I just didnt like the way it bolts to the tranny. I wouldnt want that taking all the load when I am high centered on my skid.

some people claim they have cracked their bellhousing due to it being attatched to the tranny??

I wouldnt want that taking all the load when I am high centered on my skid. aren't all skids bolt on?? and how are you possibly going to get high centered on your oil pan?? that would take skill. of all the skids on the market that i have seen, the Nth is the only one i remotely like or will be able to use once i finally put my La's on. the only one that remotely looks like it could compete with it is the new Full traction one, but i don't know if it will only work with their skid or not.

Skids you make yourself arent bolt on. And I have seen pleny of people get stuck on there engine/oil pan skids. Alot of the rubi guys that run no lift take full advantage of them. If you get out into some big rocks its actually pretty easy to get hung up on your pan or hit it. Especially if you're not running alot of lift.
Yeah all the bolt on skids you can buy do a good job, I just personally dont like the idea of bolting something like that to my tranny/bell housing that I know is going to take alot of abuse.
Once you get into a custom belly pan skid/cross memebers for la kits, unless you do something made by the same company designed to work together you're into something completely custom.

I hit my oilpan/tranny pan and I have 6.5" lift. Its not impossible to do.

the reason i'm concerned is because on my tj sport i trashed the oil pan and i'm not looking to do that again...I agree that the Nth degree skid attaching to the tranny looks sketchy. Anyone with the Toys by Troy?

here is some forst hand info about rusty's oil pan skids. i cut 2 of them off on 2 seperate occasions while 4 wheeling. both were rubbing on the comtrol arms. junk! asfar as any other info i don't have any

Interesting, I wonder why rustys stuff always hits other parts of the suspention. I guess I will just make my own skid then.
Guess that reaffirms my thought that I should never buy rustys products again.

get the warn one, it is easy to install, just drill a hole for draining your tranny so you don't have to remove the skid once it is mangled. the warn ones are not very tough, in terms of long lasting effectiveness, but they do a good job, and take a beating. I have mine on there, and it is scraped to all hell, and is bowing. I am gonna end up replacing it with a belly up eventually. the warn does not bolt to your tranny either, it bolts to your control arm mounts and to your tcase skid. it is cheap money too!

Its not impossible to do. i never said hitting it was impossible but sitting on it to the point where you are high centered would be very hard cause its so close to the front 99% of the time your rear tires will still be touching...and there for not high centered...could just be the wrong choice of words. with that said...i have never even touched mine on a rock. my t-case skid on the other hand is mangled pretty good (i was under it yesterday and didn't realize how bad). the warn does not bolt to your tranny either, it bolts to your control arm mounts and to your tcase skid. it is cheap money too! that doesn't work if you have gone LA and have no control arm mounts. which is why i haven't put a skid on yet...i haven't found one i like that doesn't mount to a point that will be cut off very soon. custom is looking to be my only answer.

x2 on the warn, the sheet of steel isnt as thick as the skid row one, but the crossmember that bolts to both LCA mounts is really really thick, and runs right under your oil pan, yes you will probably dent the skid but it cant bend up enough to cause any damage, and it is cheap cheap!

is the 4.0 and the 4.2 oil pan the same? the 4.2 has a skid plate from the factory
