i have been looking on the internet about a stroker kit for the 4 liter and just woundering to what some of you might think i know alot of people on this sit would say junk it and put in a v8 and its what i would like to but to keep the jeep as much stock as i can and get the most power out of the stock 4.0 maybe this is an idea and also if anyone as any more mods they can think of that can grab me some more horses thank you -Nick

talk to golens engine service.he's fairly local and does the 4.0 stroker kits.i believe you pick up between 65 and 80 horsepower with the stock header,intake,and a mild cam.

i think you could build your own stoker for a lot less then the golens stoker.find a good local machine shop and piece it out yourself, i bet for like 2000 you could have a ral nice stroker built.
but chad from golens built my SBC for my old camaro and it was a real nice motor never had any problems with it.

ive always wanted to build a stroker...but with my gears i really dont need the power
it would still be a really cool, fun project though...that guy Dino has a whole webpage on how to build it, and he is on NAXJA if you wanna ask him any questions after you look at his website and build threads

why not sell your 4.0 block to someone who needs a new block, and buy a new Golen 4.6 for your jeep? Page 229 in the autumn quadratec catalog. $3500 for a NEW stroked block. It is a 4.0 stroked to a 4.6 with 260 bhp@5200rpm, and 295 ft/lb @4000rpm. You might be able to get some money for your block, since it is working. The overall cost just may be worth it, considering you would have a NEW engine.

i know someone that did a 4.7 stroker it has a ton of power. he said that if he would do it all over again he would swap in a v8. seriously re gear and be happy. my 4.2 probably has about 120 hp and i have no complaints about power.

i have an old 4.0 block out of a 88 MJ. apparently 2 owners before me had the oil changed, and the people forgot to put oil in, and he drove it home. i still have the block. i dont know what else is wrong with it, but you can have it if you want it. just come get it.

I have always been a fan of odd engines...
I have always wanted to build a 4.9L 300 straight 6 out of a 88-91 ford E250, stock it wasn't a horse power monster (160 I think), but torque numbers are pretty nice (in the 260-270 ft lb area), toss in a cam for even more low end grunt, toss teh TBI in favor for a MPI set up off a 97 or later F150 4.2

i know my stock block to the wheels has 150 horse and 180 ft lbs i dynoed it. i was just thinking for the power right now its not lifted thats why i havent regeared it. i was planing to run 32 inch tires so if anyone has ideas for gears that wouldn't hurt me much for a daily driver that would be be great. thanks
