ok... got a stock ax15 bolted onto 4.2 and np 231. anyone know of an automatic tranny 3 spd or 4 spd that will bolt up in place of the ax15? are the transfer cases different between the auto and stick jeeps? any knowledge would be a help. also i dont want to f#*k with the colum........ floor shift is desireable.

what is it the t999 auto? i think that is the one that will bolt in? 4.2? thats a 258 correct? i have an automatic for a 258 plus a transfer case, dana 300. i don't know about compatibilty with a yj ? it is out of a 1985 cj7? hmmmmm

Bolting it up is not a probablem, the spline count on the input/output shafts are different on the Tcase side.

so i need to swap tcase as well? is the t999 have a floor shift or column?

I did the tf999 conversion on my 4.2 in my 89 wrangler. I loved it. Yes the input gear on the transfercase is different spline count and length. You need one from an auotmatic. The tf999 is a colum shift , but can easily have a b+m shifter like I did installed onto the floor. The tf999 came in CJ's and early grand cherokees and j-10's, it is a simple 3 speed none computer controlled tranny.
