found this today while working on the MJ. cant believe i havent noticed this before. ive only had it for 4 months . i cant tell from the pic if the frame is bent, but the sway bar lines up ok. im going to take measurements tomorrow and compair them to the XJ's.

looks like it was stuck good at some point and the driver of the tow truck didnt have a clueas of where to it hook up

Honestly, Looks like someone had that on a frame puler and did not know what the hell they were doing..
If this is a trail rig, who cares, plate it and call it a day. second, technically you do not have a frame, you ahave a unit body, so you could simply swap the front clip out for another one it you really wanted to.
Look in the area were the unit bodt is attached to the cab, make sure that area is structurally sound, I would be more concerned with that area than the fron pass side frame.

I did not know that you can swap out that front clip, i thought it was one piece from the front to back. However i will inspect it carefully and probobly just do as you said and weld a plate on it at some point. Im also a little concerned about the possibility of not being able to put a new bumper on there and using that for recovery, but we'll see what happens. thanks for the replies all.

John- i looked at the area around the cab, and i couldnt see any definate place where its bolted up. It looks like 1 long piece from the front to the back with sheet metal attached in different places. im assuming that this is a good thing, because if there was a break id probobly have seen it.
also i compaired little things like the placment on the alternator against the MJ and the XJ, and they're identical, and the bumper fits just like it came from the factory on the MJ. The swaybar is in the right place too, so i think that the only damage there is that rip in the metal. BUT before it gets any serious use like i said before it will be plated and reinforced.

I dont know what your talking about with this whole "swapping of the front end" talk, its all welded together, sure you could cut the front end off something else and swap it on but that sounds messy and just not a generaly good idea.
