Before I get anymore lights, I have to get a yellow top battery or a dual set-up. Besides that, my winch and lift come before them.

I got the hd harness too..............hooked up to yellowtop. Got yellowtop due to stereo(I find making the softtop dance to the bass to be quite amusing), the yellowtop is awesome. Get the IPF and harness....you'll like it unless you can afford HID

I have had my HIDs submerged in water... water rolling just over my hood for about 30 yards with the HIDs on (forgot to shut them off)... no problems! the ballasts are weatherproof, but the bulbs are not made to submerge, just make sure the rubber boot is on tight! oh, and the HIDs draw LESS current than the halogens, so I love that!

I will be getting the IPF housings for my HIDs soon enough, cuz I hate the beam pattern of the diamond cuts that I bought... one is cracked, but does not take on water, so I am not going to spend the money now. When they get worse, I am def getting the IPFs! the IPF housings with my HIDs should be a killer combo!

heres a quick FYI....yellow tops aren't great batteries to have as your primary battery. they don't like being used normally, cause they like to be deep cycled. if you want a good battery for daily use and for all your toys get a red top. or if you really wanna go nuts, get one of each and do a dual battery set up.
if you search ROF there is a ton of info. on optimas

yes matt, you are right, the yellow top is not as good as the red top as a primary battery, however, for winching, the yellow top performs much better. And since the yellow top is still a better primary battery than most other brands anyway, it does not hurt. And I know you have a good background in electronics, which is why I am shocked that you would suggest using a red top and a yellow top together ;D email optima and ask them if you should do that... they will tell you no. whenever you use a dual batter setup, you want both batteries to be identical type, and age. Otherwise you will have one battery causing a parasitic draw on the other, which will eventually significantly hurt, or kill one or both batteries. If you have a switching system setup, then yeah, cool, use two different optimas, but if you are just running them in parallel with jumpers, then stick with 2 red tops or 2 yellow tops, dont mix em up. And you cannot add a battery later, they must be the same age, or else one will be slightly "weaker" (for lack of a better word) and will do the same afore mentioned damage.
On a side note Matt, are you working in a shop yet? I remember you saying you were trying to get a job in the mobile electronics field...

you are right, but if you set them up with a isolator so you are only using the yellow top when wanted, then its the perfect set up and the setup that optima suggests for our jeeps.
the shop i work at is sears auto center. and yes i would love to get into a mobil audio shop, but its just not working out right now.
