So I picked up a set of D44's from an 88 waggy for 100 bucks but I'm wondering if I should stick with them or go with the front and a Ford 9 inch rear.
Who's running a D44 rear and if you were to go back in time would you throw it in again?
By the way, I have a YJ and I'm running 33's but have thought about going to 35's at some point. I'll also be re-gearing and locking both axles.

the 44 can be built to handle the 33 or 35s no problem, and if you've already got it, go with that, the 44 also has more options for selectable lockers, if your going that way in the future. the 9 inch on the other hand can be built to handle bigger than 35" tires, and alot of horsepower. they both have options for 35 spline shafts and disc conversions. if you dont already have a 9 inch than just use the 44, it will be all you need. and if you dont use the front i will take it.

Domenic Pono ran a stock cj7 Dana 44 rear and a Currie 44 front with 38"boggers and a 396 Chevy big block and a heavy right foot and the 5 years that I've wheeled with him he claims he never broke a shaft but a few u joints. let me tell you he's not afraid of the loud peddle. just curious the front a vacuum disconnect axle?

An '88 Wagoneer front axle should not be vacuum disconnect....
