I want to increase the stopping power of my jeep! I just went out and bought some Ceramix brake pads from Napa. they are supposed to be low dusting and all this other fancy crap! But I just want them to make my Xj come to a screeching stop! If you know anything about them or have used them let me know what you think
Anyway along with the new pads I'm having the rear brakes re-done! all new everything out back except the drums I'm just going to have them turned.
So enough babbling let’s get to my question!!!!
As I already said I'm looking to increase the stopping power of the old XJ And I want to get some slotted and drilled rotors! I was wondering if anyone could recommend a pair and tell me where they got them and for how much! Also if you drive with a pair of slotted and drilled rotors tell me what you think of them and if they actually make a difference.

I have powerslott rotors Considering I have no rear brakes, I noticed a little better stopping power, but... I get less fatigue in the brakesduring heavey braking as in traffic, the pedal seam to fade less. I have had these on for about a year and a half and they are great.

Are they cadum plated? I'd like to buy a rotor that will not rust to bad....
and have you had any problems with warpage? I've done some reading since my first post on this topic and i found the the slotted rotors produce much more heat and that can lead to warping.

PS what kind of brake do you use?
i bought NAPA ceramix brand but I'm not sure that they are the best anymore....
I was thinking of going with HAWK brand
or KVR performance brakes

I would just get ome rotors, pads, drums, and shoes from Autozone. You can lock them up if you want to. Its up to you. How many miles are on your Cherokee? Depending on that you could have hard spots on your drums and or they could be out of round. The dealer you take them to may not even turn them if that drums have reached their max diam.

I only use Bendex brake products, those autozone life time pads and stuff to me are junk!! not worth the money or aggrevation. go with OEM like Bob said if you need to. The only reasone I went with the slotted rotors is cause I had the extra money hanging around, and I got a deal, Buy on get on. Got both for $80 (which is the same as OEM)

Well I'm on of those crazy guys that treats his jeep as a hot rod! everytime something breaks or needs to be replaced I like to up grade it to something better! I dont really care if it costs more.... usally
Anyway I think I'm going to go with slotted rotors from pure performance and a set of HAWk Super duty brake pads.

I have a 97' XJ and love it, but I have to say this thing has the worst brakes/stopping power of any vehicle I've ever owned. and at my age I've had quite a few vehicles...... I've brought it to a Jeep dealer and they serviced the rear brakes and said the front were fine. There was little difference afterwards. Pedal is very mushy and fades very easy and the front locks up way too easy, especially in wet weather. Is this just the way these things are?

Look into swapping a larger master cylinder with a larger bore out of a f150 I think. should bolt right up!

Not really on your guys brake questions, but does anyone else's brakes lock up really back in the rain/ when wet. Mine are stock brakes and they are really testy(heh, testy) in the rain. I can just tap them and they skid. Any idea of what i should do so it's not so dangerous. Thanx, Josh

that's pretty much a universal jeep problem, ive had it consistently on my YJ and also when I had an XJ a while back. Best advice is when you notice that it happens when it is wet is to pump the brakes a bunch, after a little bit they dry up and are fine for the rest of the ride.
