Well not a jeep but I am suppose to change my friends starter motor in his explorer. I haven't looked at it yet just figuring someone did one before and could let me know how hard/easy its gonna be. I am praying it is a simple easy access starter motor? Anybody?

Should be easy,
1. Get full coverage insurance, ($100 deductable).
2. Buckle up.
3. Drive into tree really fast.
4. Buy Jeep (preferably with a good starter) with claim money.

I took mine out of my old Camery a couple times and it was a pain in the butt because the bolts were old, but it was just a couple bolts and a couple wires.....simple and painless. Put the new one in and wala...done.

most of the time a rear wheel drive car will not be hard to take the starter out, cuz of the way the engine faces, so hopefull the explorer, aka observer, aka exploder... will not be too bad. but then again it is a ford!

Well I looked at it to see if the starter was the problem and not only is the starter directly above the front driveshaft but its so far up along the frame that I couldn't even get to it. Another friend has a shop and is doing it for him. Thank god, I didn't really feel like doing that without a lift.

DId my buds 95, not bad at all. not as easy as a jeep, but very simple and straight foward, just make sure you re-use any shims that come off the old starter
