Does anyone have experiance with oiling uncompressed air? I'm going to use my stock a/c compressor for OBA, have everything figured out and built except oiling the intake air. I've got compressed air oilers (like for airtools) will that work with uncompressed? I want it automatic so I dont have to poor oil in the input pipe.

The issue with the sadaen AC compressor is that the refrigerant charge also is the method of lubrication for the pump. I have seen a couple methods for turning a sadaen into a air pump with out the refrigerant charge to lubricate, one method was to simply add a little oil to the line prior to an offroad outing. (assuming your not using for ARB's) this is an eceptable method to do it, but you will also have to have a air tank of some sort with a drain plug in it. as the pump pumps the air to the tank, some of the lubricant (oil) will also get discharged so the tank will keep it from getting in to your tires.
Another method that I am utilzing on my OBA set up is as follows. (Note I have a York 210 AC compressor out of a 84 volvo D40, it is mounted on it's side so I have a oil discharge because the out put is lower than the oil bath for the piston) I got a oil/air seperator at lowes, they sell for about $20, I am going to put it inline between the check valve and the air tank manifold (I put the check valve directly after the compressor) at the bottom there is a treaded pecock that you can turn to open, if the compressor is running it will force the oil out that valve. now I am trying to figure out how to plumb that valve to the fill on the york.. as soon as I figure that out, I will get back to you. but this is something that you need to physically empty. I wonder if you leave it open and wire in sometype of electrical selenoid with an in-cab mounted switch, but you won't be able to see the oil level in the seperator.

I have everything setup except an automated lubricating system, I've got the pressure switch and oil catcher and a nice regulator and the blowoff valve. I dont mind emptying the trap periodicly but i would like to not need to pour oil into it. I'm going to cap my bumper and tap it tomorrow. Math turns out its ~4.8 gallons capacity.

My OBA is fully operational. I am going to mount he regulator and gagues inside the cabin eventually, as well as cap and tap my rear bumper as I think it will look and function better. Right now I've got a temporary 7 gallon tank i picked up at walmart for $20.
I'm running a on at 95 off at 125 pressure switch, and a nice regulator and oil trap from mcmastercar. Valve cover breather for an air filter and heaterhost for the inlet. Hardlines and a flex hose on the output so that it can flex during engine torque. I'm waiting for some rtv to dry that I put in the only leak I have, but even with the leak it was able to easily get to 125psi and hold it there while i ran air things.
I found that a 1/2 NTP pipe threads up nicely to the output of the compressor, and 3/4 heater hose fits very tightly over the input to the compressor.
If people are interested I can make a parts list of what I used to get it going, as well as somce pics once I have built the brackets to hold stuff in place, for now its just ziptied.

What pressure blowoff's do you guys use? I put a 140psi safety blowoff in my setup but without the tank in place I blow it during compression. Since i'm going to be using a tank i dont think its to large of an issue.

mine is 150 psi, my regulator comes on at 95 psi and off at 130 psi.
