sup.
I have a Dana 44 rear out of a Scout. I was lucky to discover it had a factory Posi, and 4.27:1 gearing.
My question is what type of brake parts (drums, shoes etc...)will fit this axle. I heard something about 70's F-150 brakes will fit. anyone have any idea?

4:27 gear ratio...thats lucky? what will you match it with in the front?

Put International parts back on it. I'm with him... why make life harder than it needs to be.. OR Are you trying to change bolt patterns? cause a ford f150 is the same.

I'm doing a Dana 30 passenger side-drop out of a cj-7. They do indeed make 4.27's for the dana 30 so i'm in the clear there.
I'm not sure if international still makes parts for these...but i will check.

Have you checked www.AutoZone.com for brake parts/prices for the Scout axle? Do you know what year Scout axle it is?

just did. I noticed they do have parts.
its somewhere between 71-80 i'll have to figure it out. Either way the drums are special order through autozone.

drums are very much universal, if a 5 on 5.5 tryck has a 11"x2.5" drum, another drum off any other make and modle with the same size drum and lug pattern will fit. considering ford did not put D44's in the rear of many trucks (if any) you would be a little hard pressed to find one.
Most scout and jeep Dana 44 parts will have interchangability with with chevy D44 and 10 bolts.
If you want to look, try to find a mid 70's chrysler I think E-body (the big cars like the new port) many of those vehicles had D44 rears, many with the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern all you need to do it re-drill your axles, and then all the brake components (flange to the drum) should (I said should) swap over.
Lots of the old Muscle cars had D44's of varying width, and many hot rodders swap them out in favor of a D60, so sometimes you can get them on the cheap side.
Lastly, Many Issuzu's had D44's the same width as a YJ.

all the plymouth "e" body's (newport's, fury"s) ran a corp 8 3/4", 9 1/4" and very rare 1970 hurst chyrsler 300 with the 440 six-pac and hemi ran the9 3/4" (dana 60) p,s im a huge mopar nut

i heard , im don't know if it's true or not that scout Dana44"s are a direct bolt in in a YJ just swap in a Dana 300 (passenger drop). i got this info from Jon billings(granite state performance)

Well, not toally direct bolt in...but swing it under there bolt it up...tack the perches in...take it out and weld them up nice...stick the rearend back in bolt it in your done.
As i have the crappy BA10 5-speed, i'm swapping in a T-170 4-speed/dana300 combo that i have. I'll have to convert from hydr. clutch to linkage style(CJ style)...and i'll use the cj driveshafts with the larger u-joint for the 44.
