I'm looking for suggestions for a V8 motor to put in my 94 Wrangler. Right now i have for suggestions a Chevy Vortec V8 that would work because the transfer case is on the correct side and it's injected NOT CARBORATED! I would like to also change out the tranny and transfer case to much stronger ones, so i do NOT need to worry about adaptor plates from the motor to the tranny because i personally think the AX15 is weak! On a second not, does anyone know if it's possible to put a Cummins Desiel motor in a Jeep. Just a thought. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i know 4wd hardware is selling kits to install a v-8 now. not sure what you are looking for exactly, but i had thought of putting a 4.6 liter mustang motor in mine for the power and lighter weight than other v-8's, hasnt gone further than that thought though. the diesel thing is tricky, because it is sooooooooooooooooooo heavy, i think it has been done, so google it, but i know it would be expensive. i think it was in a petersens mag a while back there was a guy in a yj with a dodge v-10 in it.

if you go with a vortec or anything fuel injected its not going to just plug into your harness just because whats in there now is injected, you will need to find a motor with complete harness and ecu. and the harness that is in there now is useless with any other motor.
best bet is any chevy engine because no matter what it is there are adapters for any tranny/tcase availible.
also if at all posible steer away from the vortec, the plastic fuel delivery system wich lies INSIDE the intake scares me, and i don't know how i'de trust it to deal with off road abuse. although people do use them and they seem to be ok thats my personal opinion.
for a more simplistic install you can go with just a tbi and painless makes a complete harness for it and you can get an ecu and be done with the electrical issue. painless also makes a complete standalone system for the tbi and mpi engines i believe that comes with a waterproof ecu but why waist that much more money you can get a harness and plug a factory on in, unless you plan on submarining it often. i'm currently building a jeep with a tbi 350 and all factory wiring and sensors. oh and BTW i'm selling a chevy 350CID with a holley check it out. good luck good luck
