Well i have a highsteer setup on my dana 44 HD and i was wondering why do people get there knuckles flipped ? and whats the advantage of getting flat top knuckles machined ?

kinda confused on the flipped part.as far as machining.....the majority of the strength in your setup with high steer arms mounted on top is the friction between the arm and the knuckle.these 2 surfaces MUST be machined smooth to provide a good contact surface.the drivers is usually machined from the factory.the other goal in machining is the flat top surface is NOT parrallel to the spindle mounting surface.alot of people machine them parrallel to the spindle mounting surface because some high steer arms(usually double ended)are not machined with the few degrees of correction built in to make them sit flat.
back to the flipping.if you mean why do people turn or rotate the knuckles its so that they can point the pinion up higher and still maintain the correct amount of caster(or because they're running a scout 44 and it has no caster to begin with).hope this helps........jeremy

yea i noticed that only one of my arms had a flat top, so that means i have to take the passenger one off and get it machined ?

yes, it needs to be machined, I can get the name and number of the guy who machined mine, was about $60 and included all the shipping, and new studs for both knuckles.

when you say flipped do you mean they flip the inner cs upside down, flip the knuckles themself upside down or switch knuckles from one side to another..... or any other compination of knuckle innercs flipping and flatop?
if they flip the knuckles from one side to another the only good i see of it is it gets the crossover setup behind the diff for protection.....

i am looking for a set of both side flattop knuckles jeepinmaine got a set? you dont happen to have the complete outer assembly from a 44.... hubs, brake components etc? with 5 on 5.5?

the caster is set by the inner cs not the knuckles the only thing would be the brake caliper position would change.
