Hey I was wondering, I havent even checked it out yet. My girl just got a 98 cherokee and when you put it into 4x4 neither the part time or full time lights come on in 4low or 4high. I know is isnt a vaccumm switch like on the early yj's, or the axle slider fork switch setup like on the later yjs. Im guessing the switch for the lights are actually on the transfercase. Also yes the 4x4 is engaging in high and low. Let me know if this is correct.

Yeh they are on the upper right hand of the cluster. I can see them, one says full time and the other part time.

My xj is a 96 it shifts fine and 4x4 always works but same thing with the lights. Some place online siad the lights on some modles are F-ed up. I dont mind I know its in 4x4 I can see the shifter and I can feel it thats all that matters. I am not even sure if Have the lights but they are on the dash. My boss's 95 I drove few months ago to "teach him how to use 4x4" yes lame. lights work but no 4 low for the life of me.
Dont thinik this helps but yea. I know my self I dont care about the lights.
