The only rear tow hook I could find was from quadratec. it is a steel horse product, and the mounting instructions show it being mounted on the factory rear bumper. Does anyone have an ideas, or figure how tough/safe it would be to mount any sort of tow hook on the left side of the frame or the bumper I have , which is an Olympic rock bumper? This is on a '97 TJ.

If it was my Jeep I would either put the tow hook on the frame in the factory location or buy a shackle and shank for about $40 if you have a 2 inch reciver in the back. Those would be th only 2 things I would do. I wouldnt drill into the bumper. My .02 Bob

so...any ideas where I could find a hook that would go in the factory mounting spot on the frame? from looking at it, it looks like there is only one (threaded) hole in the frame on the left side.

newer TJ's come with a big hook on the left side of the frame rails. It goes into the threaded hole AND the hole the bumper is attached to. I would be willing to part with mine. You could probly a factory one off ebay.

just got my rear tow hook in the mail and the place where the 2nd bolt goes (not the bumper one) does not have threads. I have a 2000 wrangler, and i'm thinking that the newer models come with the threads. Right now i do not have a second bolt in and i know i'm gonna need one, or atleast some way to fasten that part of the hook down. There is a hole in that spot, i was considering maybe using a nut on the other end with a lock washer, but ran out of time. Just wanted to fill you in on the non threaded second hole.
