Well I went to start up my YJ the other day to test to see if the steering is working now "and it is", it started right up after sitting there for about 5 months, but the gauges are not working? I have not looked into it but is there a fuse for all the gauges?

Fusable links, off the solenoid under your battery tray, they go to everything. Also, if you end up tearing apart your harness, almost every yellow lead goes to power a gauge.

I think they got rid of fusable links with the 258 when they made it MPI.. Should be some maxi fuses under the hood, also there is one harness pack in the rear of the gauge cluster, check to see if over the past 300,000 miles if it worked itself loose.

Aye. Your cluster is easily removed. That flimsy plastic ribbon type cable to your cluster is easily disturbed & careful not to over tightened.

Where is the cluster? In the dash or under the hood. I checked all the fuses under the dash and under the hood. Even my teck gauge does not work.

Well, today I was running my Jeep and I turned on the heat to test it out and the gauges started to work. I turned off the Jeep and went to start it again and the gauges are not working???

Sorry I didn't get by, got busy, definatly sounds like the harness is loose on the back. there are 6 screws that hold the center benzel on, then there are a bunch of screws that hold the guages in, once the gauges are out, you will see the harness on the back.
Question, are they lighting up with the park lights?

Yesterday I took apart the dash. I checked all plugs and conections. I found that I am not getting any power on the yellow wires. What can be stoping the power from getting to the harness? I am stumped!!!

Always a fun problem. Amazing as to how many different components can effect others Electrically. Obvious answers are loose connections, faulty relays, fuses,shorted components,bad grounds,& lastly Corrosion. Do a good visual inspection of your wires & connections for corrosion. Remember to shine a light inside relay bases & any connectors remove & inspect for corrosion/loose/frayed wires. If you think another component is the cause start pulling fuses & relays to see if power gets restored & troubleshoot that particular circuit. Verify you have a good solid ground on your circuit as well. Generally when I inspect an Electrical circuit as I remove items I'll spray connections & relays bases with "Electrical Contact Cleaner" to insure a good clean electrical connection. ***Do with Power Off as contact cleaner is Flammable***

Thanks I will try that when I have a day free. Is there a ground at the end of the harness or at the beginning or is there a ground at every conection?
