i actually think i figured it out...on the newer jeeps you need to complete the ciruit and have both a side and front marker...as soon as i rehooked up the other light it worked normally...so i now have my old front marker light taped to the wires and then the bulb taped over and stuffed in the grill ;D....getto i know but it works. Thats what we did with my buddies f350 superduty we put led's in. Works perfectly.

the only thing that isn't working right now are my hazards...im gonna try to modify my orginal flasher as shown on stu's site to see if that works better than the one i bought.

WOW, now that everyone is done fluffing their feathers, I think we should address the issue at hand!
Matt, I know you are some what familiar with Ohms law and all that dc voltage mumbo jumbo, bla bla bla, but in short, my suggestion would be to use two relays, one per side and see if you can increase the voltage throw!(similar to how you should wire in a relay for aftermarket lighting cause the draw is too much for the factory system.) That should work, remember that a flasher has a anywhere from 3-5 built in micro relays that will increase the voltage throw being sent to the leds during the Blinking action, thats most likly why they areworking with the one action and not the other.
If this does not work, use hand signals!

hey Matt, are those final pics with the factory flares attached, and cut?? That looks super clean. I might need to recruit your help with mine sometime soon, just tell me where to get LED's and molding. shoot me a PM??

john....the problem is that on the newer TJ's you need to run the lights off the front marker to complete the circuit, the side markers will only work as blinkers if the front marker is dead....learned that the hard way so now i need to re wire.
rockdale...yes those are final pics....i got the leds from awdirect.com. i got the molding from bob's left overs and i believe he got it from awdirect as well but im not positive.

Did you eliminate a Blinker?

technically....i have the leds off the side markers and the front markers are taped up and inside the grill. but still now hazards...the flasher just buzzes and they stay on.

If ya want to continue the "getto" way to its max, try this. Find out what the resistance is across the light and replace it with a resistor rated at 12V and whatever the reading was in ohms. That way you will have less heat and no burnouts. Just a thought. ;D Roger.

WHen I put the LED's in my rear set on my bike, which is only 2 led's per side and they required about 75,000 ohms, and radio shack does not have resistors that big. None the less Very good Idea! I think you need to loop the wires that were deleted into a dumby light, or add some other type of marker light.

tried replacing a bulb with a resistor once... BAD IDEA! the resistor heats up, and burns. and dont the LEDs draw less current because they have less resistance? so using relays to give them more power would not work, right? I have never done this mod, so i am more than likely talking out my arse! just throwing my .02 cents in! I swear I am not trying...

i have seen LED marker lights on the side of the hood. LOOKS COOL. i would hook up a dummy light or do some custom marker light and add a resistor.
