Has anyone replaced the pinion seal on a rear end. It looks like mine (AMC 20) is leaking just a bit so I figured I would ask. It looks like you might be able to remove the yoke with a puller and change it pretty easily...... any thoughts? Thanks guys, Kent Here it is after Bob and I installed it last spring...

Ideally you need to get a new pinion nut, They are one use only lockstyle nuts.
That said i've reused them without a problem. I guess it depends how meticulous you are about the vehicle.

mike you always make everything sounds so easy, just like a chiltons manual
ideally you would go exactly how mike has described it, my pinion is leaking too for some reason, but it is low on my list of priorities to fix

by seal puller he really means a bfh and a screw driver. thats called the real mans "chiltons" manual. Beat the snot out of it untill it starts coming out. then use said bfh to reinstall!

Just buy a seal puller they are less that 10 bucks at an autoparts store. I used to go the hammer and screwdriver routeuntill I bought a puller, the puller takes the seal out effortlessly. But if you do go the big hammer/screwdriver route make sure you dont put a gouge in the diff where the new seal would sit.
