here is a situation that happened to a guy on one of the NEJ trips ( i think OFR ) He bent a fork on his front axle (where the ujoint is) and if he applied torque to the front wheels, he probably would have broken the front end so bad that he would have to leave his rubi in the woods, and repair it there, since the only way out involved some good size obsticles with no turn offs. what did he do? he put his TC in 2wd, and locked the rear axle, now he had 2 wheels transferring power instead of 1, and he made it out with no help. that is one real life application for lockers in 2wd. what if you are doing some high speed mud bogging, shallow, thick mud, where momentum is key... then it would be nice to lock your diffs in 4HI, so you can have better speed through the mud. also, when you wanna launch of the line at a drag strip, if the rear end is locked, you can get a better start! ...just a few applications for lockers outside of 4lo

do it, cheaop mod, and if you ever wheel in sand, you will need 4 hi with lockers!
And the factory lockers should di-engage at 45 mph (according to the 03 tech manual

wheel speed and front lockers aren't a great idea, but some times its just a necessity. there is no way in chance you can make it up the ice luge in 4low without wheelspeed, its simple impossible. did anybody break on it so far...not that i am aware of. I made it up the ice luge in 4 low Bob

i made it in 4lo but i had stock gearing then and 32's and it took three tries

i did it in 4hi 2nd gear with some extra throttle just for kicks.
