What does OBDII have to do with anything?? As far as leaving the key in the on position and killing the battery. OBDII came out in 1996. Howell TBI is based on a 1987 GM fuel system, That was just barely OBDI with very limited diagnostics and a very slow data stream. While only having to control one fuel injector that runs at a nearly fixed dwell, based off of the slow ramblings of a non-heated o2 sensor that was usually placed too far away from the source of the engines exhaust to work properly anyway, seems to be only a short step away from a carburetor anyway.
