Well I popped on my 33's today just for kicks and to take a few pics. When i went driving around and I slow down to about 5mph i get a nasty vibe till i stop. when i accelerate i also get a little vibe till +5mph. Higher speeds no problems at all no unusual vibes around 45 mph. I didnt go any faster. It is only with the 33's on tho, if I put the 31's on theres no problems. My front driveshaft is removed. The vibe is pretty severe. It starts in the rear and moves thru the car to the front and its loud and vibrates everything and its damn loud. Sound like a loud bass hit and vibration. I dont think its tire slap because they are baja claw radials. I drive in a 79 bronco with the same tires but 35's and they dont sound anything like this. They ride like my AT's.

if its only with the 33's on then i would assume the 33's need to be balanced. are the tires new? if they are used mabye their cupped or uneven wear thats not to noticible to the eye?

The tires are brand new out of plastic and boxes. I bought them from a kid that bought them offline. They came mounted on the wheels, balanced and aired up. a guy on jeepforum said it may be a tread separation in the tire, and another kid thinks ive never heard a mud tire slap before and im in a panic over that. I can definetly say mud tires make road noise. But the vibes this thing is throwing are unbelievable and they scare the s*** out of me right at 5mph. any faster and they are smooth and quiet.

typically if a vibration comes and goes consistently at several different speeds it is an issue of tire balance.
i am sure that some numb nut will now say i am wrong, just my .02

;D i think you may be right but 5mph. seems like a awfully low speed for a imbalance. i get it up to 45 and its quiet and smooth. hit 5mph and lower and the thing sounds like a train slowing down and all hell breaks loose. The counter weights on there now are the stick on inner weights. not the normal wheel lip weights. i was told to rip those suckers off and get a real balance anyways but i still dont see a speed this low giving me a ripping vibe unless it was a cup in the tire as mentioned or something else im missing. Also the tire is not rubbing anywhere

A little off topic here but I really like your setup. It really makes me want to build up my jeep over the summer. What kind of a setup are you running? What are you running for the front and rear axels with thoes 33's? Nice jeep.

and along those lines, are tjose bias or radial claws?

you said its 5 mph then it goes away. and you have no other abnormal vids at anyother speeds. a tire bal. problem usealy is usealy noticable from 55-65 and it will go away.
you have agressive tires and that slow speed your fealing the tread making contact with the ground. my brother is running the same tires and at slow speeds it does the same thing

problem is there are no pirates in this thread, or are there ;D They are radial claws. I am running stock axles for now. They are definetly next on the list. Current setup now is 3.5" tuff country springs, 1.75" spacers, all JKS control arms, JKS rear trackbar, and addco antiswaybar with jks discos. I have to install my JKS sliders and a kevins offroad tcase skid/crossmember, also have rustys 5.5" springs so i can eliminate the spacers and 3.5" springs, and i have a rustys steering conversion i still need to install. I just got robbed on my front rustys trackbar over on JU. I need it so bad and the guy took off with my money. My front end is probably off 3 inches due to not having a adjustable trackbar and only a bracket for 3.5". Could that be part of the problem. I got a alignment last week and my pinion angle is adjusted properly.

how are you 5.5" without a sye? i'm 4" and i get driveline vibes (minimal) but at 5.5" i'd be screwed. why don't you get vibes? do you have a hack & tap kit or something?

The only vibes i have had are in the front end. Rear no probs, no tcase drop. I have a 242 so id have a hard time with a sye. no need yet tho. I removed the front driveshaft so i could adjust the rear pinion angle to remove any vibes but turns out it was the front. I still have to put my front driveshaft in to adjust my front angle. Im happy with it other than my damn trackbar.

Ill tell ya tho id rather have a TJ. easier to find parts and much much much cheaper. This thing has come a long way in just the past 6 months but the parts i buy are all pretty much used in some way so i can catch a break on prices. It will be a great rig as soon as i get some axles and lockers. then i will probably join NEJ. although i was told a few months ago that i probably wouldnt have my application accepted because you guys are filling up and i should join a different club for a while then reapply .
