Ok so my plan is to do a spring over on the trailer. Now I have the stock Dana 35 rear in it now. Now can I just flip the axel over so the pinion is still facing forward but the spring mounts are on top. I figured I could save a lot of time and energy if I could just do this. Any ideas? The purpose of this is to meet my goal of fitting 35"s on it.

Only problem I could see is the breather hole would be on the bottom of the axle. This could be plugged easily. I think the diff would still sling oil properly. You would also want to make sure there is enough gear oil that its making it to the wheel bearings down the axle tubes.

I would not, only cause that is not what it was designed for, you'll loose gear oil out the pinion abd run the gears dry and seize it up. I would simply get a set of perches off ebay cheap, weld them on, and call it a day. Heck, if you wanna bring it to my house, I can weld it up no prob.

FYI the dif spinning in reverse at high speeds will not be oiling the pinion the way its meant to, it will be throwing oil opposite. so you can expect for some wear down the line and some awful noise. easy fix.......remove pinion gear pull the seals, and plug the end your not using the pinion gear anyways, all its doing is adding more drag. (john would prob suggest a can of alpo for a plug, steer away from that idea)
