i just replaced my front right u join and brakes shoes but i havent been abke to do the left ones yet, today after work i just went to a mud puddle to get a bit dirty, nothing serious at all...now when i take a right turn i get a deep thuddin sound but when i turn left it dissapears (must be going like 20 though, tilting jeeps seems to affect it) the sound seams to be coming from my left wheel but i have no clue what it could be. any ideas?
also i didnt hit anything or even bottom out or make contact with anything...just water and mud which is why i am stumped.

? Lots of things, Tie rod ends, Ball joint, bad wheel bearing.

? Lots of things, Tie rod ends, Ball joint, bad wheel bearing. Loose lug nuts, brakes didn't seat themselves right, etc. You said you changed the brake shoes...in the rear? Fronts are pads.

sorry meant i changed pads in front passenger yesterday, rear brakes where all done new in april, passenger side was done yesterday but i didnt get a chance to do drivers side. lugs shud be tight (hell i ended up almost stripping one trying to get it off, my lug wrench cant turn it anymore so i would think that is tight enough). if its a bad tie rod end, wheel bearing or ball joint how can i tell? also is it safe to drive like this? only going to work today (10 minute drive) then i am going home to see what i can do

i can get the lugs off the other side now (got dads impact sockets) and im puttin on all new lugs anyway but is there a sure way to determine whats wrong when i get the wheel off? or is it something u got to have an eye for?

Bad balljoints - wheel will have play up and down Bad Tierod end - Wheel will have play side to side Wheel bearing could also exhibit either of these Could be warped rotors, or the mechinism the caliper slides side to side on is messed up? I'd take it all appart and look at it. Plus can you hear where the sound comes from? and is it rhythmic, or more of a steady grinding sound?

took my wheel apart and changed the pads. my tie rod has a little bend (tire wear) but everything else is good and tight. although i think i fixed the wabble when i tightened it but i realize now i have a very steady noise that must be coming from my rear...of my jeep. im gonna jack it up and spin the wheel to see if i can determine the noise.
