Whatcha think about this. I have been thinking about trussing my d30 lately. I notice its been taking a beating on the rocks. I have been playin with a few designs. You could go all the way along the top and reinfoce the upper control arm mounts.
You could run a piece of angle down low and protect the tube from teh rocks and tie it into your lower control arm mounts and then skid them. I am not sure how ghetto wangsta that would be though.
Or if you wanted to go nuts you could skid the buttom with angle and truss the top reinforcing both lower and upper control arm mounts. Any thoughts.
Yea yea go 44's or 60's but I am not ready for that. I gotta finish my last year in college so might as well wheel whatcha got until it starts breakin right??

I say wangsta cuz thats what we do best over here in roxbury. Do the angle, when laying under your jeep last week I saw the work of the rocks on your poor slave. Polishing a turd is always a messy busness be prepaired to get sh!t on yourself. Controlarm skids are probably more important to you than tube, the tube is some thick stuff.

well at the least I am going to skid the lca's but id like to renforce all of them before I rip them off the tube. Go big or stay home, so the same goes with turd polish right?? might as well go nuts.

Angle iron won't work, that wtuff will taco too easily. the best way to truss up your axle on a extreme budget is to pick up wome 1.25x0.25 DOM tubing, cope and weld it just inside of the control arm, bend it under the diff, weld it there too, then weld just inside the other control arm. simple yet effective. ya you will loose about a inch of ground clearence but think if it as a skid plate!

your 30 is plenty strong enough for the wheeling we do around here. if you wanna beef up the ca mounts....just brace the passenger upper and put some thick skids on the the lowers. that will beef them up to the point of no worries and save ground clearance.
unless you are running 44's on a d60 i don't see the need to truss the tubes.

Rustys makes a HD lower control arm mount, ill prob get a set of these because mine are bent to sh!t and maybe a some of these from JKS to go with them
