beauuuuuuuuuuutiful jeep.. 86 CJ7 hardly any rust, etc.. etc.. beautiful jeep.. 6 cyl, carborated.. etc..
however, there is a problem with it. The guy hasn't figured it out yet and i'm trying to figure out now if it's worth me buying and possibly getting into a major issue.
The problem..
It starts right up but wont idle at all. doesnt even try. But if i give it gas it will stay running and sounds really strong.
What he's done to try to fix new distributor cap and rotor cleaned out coil tested spark from coil to dist cap and it's yellow (not blue like desired... but still there)
Thinking it's a vaccuum leak... anybody ever have this issue.
i want to decide on whether to buy this thing tomorrow.
he wants 700 and it's in prestine condition except for this issue.

Its the carb, the idle circuit clogs. put a motorcraft,a weber or injection. Anyone with a cj has had this issue. On second thought, i'll buy it. just kidding. Bob

Just buy it, don't tell him you know whats wrong. You can clean the carb, but it will happen again. If you don't buy it pm me the info. Bob

so you're saying get it, no questions? think it's worth it? he said it's worth 2500 if it didn't have this issue.
so if i drop another carb in or have the carb rebuilt i should be good?

if it is a early 86 it will have the model 20. the later ones will have the 44. in my opinion forget the webber save up and inject it.$1100 it is prob, the best thing i've done to my cj. good luck with it.
