tstaples...... unless you are a REALLY lucky guys like Rich and pick up good jeeps for cheap, I would consider yourself as getting a steal to find a great condition CJ for only $700.
If you are just planning on driving it as it then maybe go with the MC2100 and you will be in good shape. If you are planning on building it up, the $300 weber is just the start.
Just Empty Every Pocket.
Be sure to post some pics when you get the new arrival home.

the howell injection kit is a little less expensive than the Mopar kit and is way worth it.

I installed a Weber on my old '89 YJ. It was the same motor you have.
The carb made a huge difference in drivability compared to the crappy Carter carburetor.
Just be warned... a Weber can be a little tough to get tuned right to pass emissions.
It sounds like one heck of a deal.....

if you want to stick with a carb, IMHO the best would be to swap out the manifold for a offenhousen 4 bbl manifold, and put a small 400 cfm holly truck avenger carb. will eliminate a bunch of vacumn lines (nutter bypass is another option) and will run at angles, easier to install and a little less $$ than injection.

Yes you can take it apart and clean/blowout the passages. However, if you have never worked on a carb., i would get some help. I can try to find some time, but this is a busy time of year. Bob

BOUGHT IT! sweeeeeeet. got it home... see pictures Here's an issue though and i'm taking a guess it's cause the carb is flooding. It would stall out on me after about a mile or so and I'd have to let it sit. then it would start back up after 5 mins and go for another mile and then i'd have to let it sit. Sound like an issue with flooding since the carb is so F-ed up?
