the gunk works well, my dad used it on his 68 camaro, looks pristine.

i hear dish washing detergent works well to get rid of a lot of grease

I took my moms steam cleaner and used it untill she found me in the garage. She was pissed but it was good at getting stuff off while it lasted.
The car wash isnt bad with the high pressure water. Just be careful what you spray it at.

I use Gunk, and go to the pay and spray and clean away. cleaning up the grease is their problem.

I have had great success with using Simple Green in the past. I just cover what need to be covered an then spray the entire engine with Simple Green. Let it sit for 10 - 15 min and then hit it with the hose.
If you have tons of stuff caked on there then I would think the pressure washer would be your best bet.
