i am going to be running a two speed single elec fan. just wondering if anyone else has done it and if they used a premade harness from painless..be cool..etc and if the harness's are made for two speed single fans. any bad luck or good luck with the swap?
also has anyone had any luck or bad luck with the high flow water pumps? Thanks

My fan crapped out on me in the woods. I used a zip tie to get me home. I just drove over to auto zone and got a elect. fan kit. I think it was 90 bucks for everything, maybe cheaper. Had it installed in a few minutes, and even wired up a kill switch for deep water crossing. Dont have a thermostat on it, thats the only down fall. But you can get one. Good luck.

i am researching the same thing, using a fan from a ford taurus. seems alot of people just have a 3 way switch, the 2 speeds and one to kill it, but i was wondering how hard it was to hook it up to be automatic? and what i would need to do.

mine's automatic, very easy hookup, tstat in radiator inlet, variable temp switch under hood... only problem with automatic feature is after I shut the Jeep down when hot, it cycles for another 3 minutes or so needlessly until the rad. cooling is down.

-alwaysstuck, did you buy the wiring as a kit to be able to hook up to the t-stat to make it automatic? if you did what brand and where did you get it.

Actually, my jeep had it installed when I bought it, but I have bought the same kit before for a 62 nova that I couldn't keep cool enough. The brand I bought was flex a lite, the kit without a tstat feature was around 270 and with the tstat and wiring was around 300... Both of my kits are generic, but they do make vehicle specific kits. I'd recommend putting in one w/ a tstat whereas if it is switch controlled if anyone else drove the truck and forgot to put it on youd overheat, or if you left it on youd have a dead battery, plus, I can tell from my voltometer when my is on and off- it shuts itself off on the highway which prob improves airflow over the radiator. this place seems a litle expensive, but it gives you an idea of what I have, I'll try to dig up the reciept or owners manual on the one from my nova to see if I can provide more info... www.tellico4x4.com/catalog/index.php/manufacturers_id/190

I used a ford touras 2 speed fan in mine. I love it. You never have to use the high setting. I wired it myself with relays and switches from autozone, no need to use a kit from painless.
