No Todd and Billy were telling me of a military jeep willys produced back in the 50's that had front and rear independent suspension, but are very hard to find.
Little known fact, the Cherokee's were originally designed to be IFS. they accually were going to use the same front end as the 1984 S10 blazer( also where AMC sourced the crappy 2.8, it's GM). but they only carried that design over into the 2wd XJ's it was cheaper and more cost efficient to have a SFA.

I doubt i'll find pictures, just have the answer in print. I'll try looking around, or i know you will. Erik I have. I could find pictures or the body but no suspension pictures. Also all pictures i find of what is supposed to be it appears to sit a little lower. But still looks like it has leaf springs. -Paul

2wd cherokees don't have IFS. They have a tube axle with identical suspension as the 4wd. That is what makes them so easy to convert. Erik I could have sworn that I saw a 1984 cherokee with IFS. I knew that the later years use solid tube axle. I am going to check my book!

My book only has info on 4wd models, But I stick to my guns, I am 99% positive I saw and read that cherokee's with a gm 2.8 ltr and 2wd had IFS also from the s-10.
Hey if I am wrong, then I am wrong! 0 for 2 today!

No Todd and Billy were telling me of a military jeep willys produced back in the 50's that had front and rear independent suspension, but are very hard to find. ----------------------------------------------------- That would be an M151 AKA Mutt, had 4 wheel independent suspension with coils and control arms and were prone to roll overs.I didn`t count them as a Jeep because I believe they wee produced by AM General.

Yeah you are correct, Cheech it is the m151 and yeah it had IFS, IRS. In regards to the IFS question are we saying Jeep as in AMC, Kaiser or Willys Jeep ?? Cause if you want to get technical what about the AMC Jeep Eagle??? I know it is crappy but it technically is a Jeep! HA-HA Man I want one of those!?!?!?!?!
