I run 4 hella 550's pointed in a ""rainbow" type pattern to fully flood the front of my YJ. They work absolutly great but when on with another accessory like the radio, heater, battery voltage sinks a little low. Honestly, i have not gotten to see the IPF 's in action but Dave (Boston Jeep or what ever name he is using over here) has one set of KC daylighters and they are just as intense as my four lights. (I bet you know what my next light purchase will be)
Ray has Piaa on his windshield but I don't know how well they work, I have yet to see them.

I want to do 4 piaa's, two 520 fogs where the factory ones are, and two 510 driving lights (4" round) mounted on a "hoop" just above my winch. This is what it looks like now: And these are my photoshop ideas of what I want: I am going to custom make the "hoop" soon I am thinking of making it silver to match my jeep, but I am not sure if I should do that or just go black... any thoughts?

Although I have never owned the PIAA or the IPF lights I have had a couple sets of HELLA's and KC's. I like the reflectors that HELLA is using. I just installed a set of HELLA Free Form 1000's. They are a lirge light but not overly thick/deep. They measure almost 7.5" across and 3.25" deep. Mine are "driving" lights with a 55 watt bulb. They also offer a "pencil" beam and a "fog" light in the same demintions. The reflector is huge, they offer a tremendous amount of light for only having a 55 watt bulb. Previously I had HELLA 500's on the same bumper. These were a pencil beam and also a 55 watt. These were awsome. But I had broken them two or three times off road. The last time I had to fiberglass the mounting flange back to the light assembly. It was time for an upgrade. The most powerful light I have used is the KC stainless steel 130 watt sealed beam light. They are still avalible for about $60/70 bucks each. But you will need a alt. upgrade to properly/adaquitely run them. (I went to a 130 amp) If memory serves, they offered almost 400,000 candle power each!! I had them mounted up on the rollbar of a pickup I had at the time. Now they where truly awsome. I vote for the HELLA, I think you get a good product for a fair price. But they do use alot of "plastics". They are not cheap or flimsy but they are still plastic. I got mine from Performance Products of CA. They are currently on sale for $100 for the pair. But only in the "driving" style. If you want the others they run $50/60 each plus the wiring harness. The kit is quite a savings. CW

I've only owned KC's daylighters, and had them hooked up briefly, but man were they bright. I've got 2 sets of the 100w, I had one set on and I could see down my parents driveway(about 200 yards) and across the street and into the woods, clear as day. To bad I lost my bumper or I would have them mounted already. anyone wanna fab up a set of brackets for me so I can mount them like all the wranglers next to my windshield J

I'm looking at replacing my stock fog lights as well, but am looking at using the existing set up. Does any one know what the max wattage I can use, using the existing set up without compromising the electrical?

You can use the exhisting wiring, should not be a problem, But I would add an extra relay just in case. wire between the light and the factory wiring, wire it just as you normally would but the signal on the new "aftermarket" relay that would be connected to the "ignition switch" I would wire to the signal coming from the factory relays. (the wire attached to the old light) This is not needed, but would be a little bit of safty insurance.
