I figured I'd start a poll question because no one has yet.
Oh yeah Rubicon doesn’t count or the new rescue
And by all around I mean on and off the road

I voted YJ but I think the M715 would be the best all around rig. lots of storage, very streetable with mods. 3/4 ton running gear, dependable and durable.
YJ would be second cause you can build a YJ that is the same as a TJ for lot less cash!

I went CJ. B/c you have so many available options with them. From stock t-18's and some with stock 5.** gears and lower. Th Scramblers. And I enjoy the on and offroad characteristics of my CJ a lot more than i did my YJ or my Brothers YJ.

Not flaming you, just want to know how you think that the KJ is the best Jeep of all time. No traction aiding devices, no factory lift, IFS/IRS. How??? I'm glad you have loyalty to your vehicle but HOW is it the BEST Jeep of all time. I like my Cherokee, and I know that there are factory parts that make it a very worthwhile offroad vehicle, but even having said that i don't think it is the BEST of all time. On a historical note, something you may not know, the KJ is even the first civilian Jeep to have a IFS. Do you know what it was?? Sorry, but lets think of the BEST of ALL Time like the thread subject states, not what we chose to buy. Hope to see you on the trail. Erik Jamial, I think yer right...more of a tally of who ownes what..because EVERY jeep is different.

Hmmm didn’t really think about it when creating the question but I can see how this is going to be more of a who drives what poll ....I guess that’s okay Anyway the reason I chose Cherokee is because I've ridden in and wheeled with just about everything such as a 98 grand cherokee, a 87 wagoner, a 96 cherokee, a 99 yj , and obviously my 90 cherokee Out of all of them I liked the Cherokee the best! the reason is I found the wagoner to big to be a practical off roader its more like a bronco than anything don’t get me wrong though the big V8 is nice and it does well but I didn’t like the gas mileage cruising down the highway! The Grand Cherokee was very capable off road but I found it to be too much of a "luxury" car to be considered a real jeep! For some reason the idea off driving threw mud that comes up to you door in a truck with heated seats just doesn’t appeal to me! I do have to say that the grand Cherokees are great for the road though. they are nice and smooth and handle the speed bumps going into the grocery store real nice Okay the YJ was great but it basically is an all out off-roader! they are noisy and small! they don’t offer much storage room and for the most part they are impractical! Now the comanchee is a cool jeep to but to tell you the truth I just don’t like pick-ups that much! Not enough "cabin" space and I personally don’t have the need for a 6-foot bed. This brings me to the Cherokee! I personally feel that the Cherokee is the ultimate mix!! You get a vehicle that is very capable off road and nice and quite (unless you got swampers) driving down the highway. the "cockpit" isn’t cramped! you have plenty of storage room for all the tools you need on the trail and you can bring the whole family cuz you can comfortably fit four-five people!! I just feel that its the best "all around" jeep ever built. and besides its not like the grand Cherokee where you go out and drop $35,000 then are scared to take it into the woods. I just think the Cherokee offers the most of everything for a fairly reasonable price. oh yeah I almost forgot! down with the KJ! I hate them! they are ugly!!!

I am going to have to agree with Erik for the most part. CJ was definatly the longest lasting jeep. Has had many many different options. most wheelbases you could think of. Most motors, most trannys and most axle choices. I have wheeled my XJ's i have owned. And i do agree they are great offroad and great onroad. I just hate the fact the top does not come off. and my XJ's always scrape more while stock where my Stock CJ did not. Even the YJ was a contination of the CJ. But it does not wheel as good from the factory. It is lower. has damn trac bars that limit articulation and are more a pain than they are worth.
Really what it comes down to as beeing the Best jeep is personal preferance. Ryan stated he likes the XJ best b/c it has room for the family and he does not feel like he is in a luxury vehicle compared to a ZJ or WJ.
If we go by available options from the factory I would say CJ is the best Jeep. my preferance overall would be a CJ.
