Sony Xplod head unit/5.25/6.5 speakers

Ok, so I went out and bought the following:

Sony Xplod MEX-1GP Head Unit
Sony 6.5" Xplod XS-R1611 3 Way Speakers
Sony 5.25" Xplod XS-R1311 3 Way Speakers

And all I have to say is.....WOW!!!

I've installed the head unit and that alone is amazing. It increased my sound output two fold....easily. Also, the bass sounds so much better as does the mid level and the voices.

Now the 5.25" have been tested but I'm still waiting on the mounting plates for the front dash. They also were amazingly clear and improved the entire system.

Just like the 5.25", the 6.5" have been tested, but not completely installed yet. When I had these in the sound pods on teh rollbar it was like I was at a concert.

Anyway, I'm trying to decide on some subs and an amp because I'm building a custom box to take up my back seat. This box is going to hold the two subs/draws/storage/OBA tank.

Ok, back to the review. The sony Xplod line is amazing. I know there are better quality speakers out there, but I paid $250 for all 4 speakers, the head unit, instilation kit and wiring harness. For that price and the improvement I got....well worth it!!

Can't wait for the sub/amps/custom rear box.

get ONE 12" L7. and a 800 watt 2 channel amp that is bridgable.

The L7 doesnt require much airspace, so youll have a smaller box, plus it's bass and thump are far better than any other sub I have heard.

go class d for subwoofers, everything else is garbage

i had a sony xplod hd unit. gave it away. got a pioneer. cd's would skip at every tiny bump i hit with the sony. but, my sony was last years model, so maybe they corrected that issue. other than that i liked it.

for the longest time, i always called the "ex"-"plod" not "plode" then it hit me one day....its "explode!!!"

i had 2 sonys in the back of my first XJ, and after a while, those things were crackling worse than a bowl of rice crispies. i didn't listen to my music loud, but maybe the PO did. ive never had a problem with sony equipment, such as disc mans, and my stereo is entirely sony except for the cd player, and im happy with it. maybe car audio is diff. hope everything works out for ya tooch!
