well, i did what you said, i think i found the trackbar, and i had someone rotate the steering wheel, and I couldnt see anything suspicious.
I will just have to buy a new jeep.

well i found a definite problem on my zj. i was finger pointing the trackbar. but it was my shocks that were too small for my lift. i ended up ripping one free of the upper bushing and it was just slamming around in the engine compartment. when i hit a bump it went crazy with my bad ball joints. figured id throw another option out there. worn shocks could cause it i guess

Seriously, I did it lol! But I could have been looking at the wrong thing.. I had my fiancee turn the steering wheel over and over again, until she was obviously not interested in turning the wheel anymore. I think at this point, I should rear end someone, and collect the insurance money... Anyone need a new rear bumper?

turning the wheel won't cut it........you need to yank it back and forth a few inchs rapidly with the engine off.....basically simulating your wobble.unless your chick works out alot have one of your buddies do it....i'm with dsgray and still say tb.if non of the guys live near you to help diagnose it..don't you have a midas around?they give free estimates.

I also didnt know that i have to do more than just turn the wheel, I will have one of my ape-like nieghbors rip on my wheel.

ok, i think it is the track bar, I had a nieghbor do the thing, and it looks like i get a little movement out of it, where it bolts to the axle, right under where the steering stabilizer bolts to the thingy.
soo, do I need a torch to remove the part near the frame? cause it looks mighty rusted and hard to get at.

my guess is, as its been all along, that you need a new track bar bushing
Get one
unbolt the axle side of the TB, there a nut thats kinda hard to get to on th eother side of the mount
remove the old bushing and put th enew one in
Th eonly other thing you need to check is the hole that the bolt goes through in th emount, make sure its not wallowed out
that is all

Oh, so i dont need to replace the TB? Just the bushing? Is it possible that the nut on the bolt has a metal thing on it making it optional to use a second wrench?

you wont need a alignment. but depending on how bad your wobble was and how long it has been loose, you may have oblonged the hole for the bolt. it would look like this 0 instead of this o. it happened to me but the bushing wasnt shot it was a loose bolt. i had to break out the welder and weld some washers with the correct inner hole diameter to take up the slack. hope it helps

So, I took it to midas today, and they said that the TB is loose on both sides, and will require replacement. They didnt say anything about the dampner, but I am going to replace that too. So, Costs are: TB = $155 Dampner = 90.75 These prices are from the dealership. Only questions I have; Are there cheaper aftermarket? Is it worth going aftermarket? And who can help me install these ASAP!

You can get a cheap Dampener from AutoZone (atleast, I could for my Wagoneer). It was under $40.
As for the trackbar, you should just be able to change the bushings out... or replace it with Maki's. ;D Dude, you may as well grab his tie-rod assembly too.

Yeah dont pay for a new trac bar. I am sure some people here have some old stock tj track bars around. I know I have a few (TJ and xj floating around). Will take about 20 minutes to do the swap. If I ever see ya you can have mine stocker for a beer and I will help you put it in.
