so the guys at my dealer wont help me fix my front driveshaft. they said its easier to replace it than rebuild it. Brand New its about $400! so does anyone know of a driveshaft place around here that will rebuild mine or take mine and sell me another one? All it needs is the centering joint thingy in between the 2 u-joints.
I'll check back, i'm gonna go check out Ebay.

i think i can fix it myself. i was checking out www.stu-offroad.com/index.shtml and it looks easy enough. ALL HAIL THE GREAT STU! it looks like about $150 bucks in parts. 40 bones for the HarbourFreight tool to pull the ujoints puts me at about $200. $200 bucks to attempt a reapir that seasoned mechanic have told me to avoid. What to do?

there is a real good driveshaft place here next to worcester in shrewsbury, Mitchelldifferential.com. i was over there last week and decend prices and from what i hear realy good work. or you could try sending it to some place like Tom Woods. but why not try it yourself right, if you cant do it bring it somewhere and have them do it, you already have the parts.

Tool... NAPA....?
WTF, vise and a dead blow hammer! Have you folks ever changed a u-joint in the middle of the woods using a rock and two pieces of wood?
open the vice to the width of the yoke ears. take out the cap retainers on that in the yoke ears, rest the u-joint over the vice so that the yoke ears are facing up and down and the accual joint caps are resting on the top of the vise, take a hammer and beat the living S!IT out of the thing, you will pop one cap out half way, simply pull it the rest of the way, turn the D/S 180* and repleat! the u-joint will fall out, replace with a new one, use some sockets and the bench vise to press the new ones in!
Done the same way you would do axle u-joints! if they are really old and stuborn a little heat would not hurt!

I've done a few on a rock in the woods using my hub socket and a spark plug socket. Works out pritty well, i've never actually done one in a vice.

U JOINT REMOVAL NOT THE PROBLEM, its the centering ball kit installation thats got me worried. i hear its a b****, and all the internet write ups are less than descriptive on the installation side.

its not that bad, have one guy hold it and the other put the ujoint in. You should be fine, hardest part for me was the the guy at napa gave me the wrong ujoint so it wouldnt fit. Thought I was doing it wrong untill i went back and got the right one. ( i find you get better service at the napa's were the guy speaks english and knows stuff about trucks rather than how to do a crappy job pimpen out a honda)

There's a good driveshaft place in Providence ( i think it was Providence).
They made a new driveshaft for my '79 Bronco after I twisted it into 3 pieces, for under $300 bucks.
I'm sure they could fix it, or make it better than new for a reasonable amount of money.
