yeah, aussies have a warrenty that isnt voided by any tire size. you can run 49" tires on it, and if it breaks they will warrenty it. i think that bluerocket is running aussies?

CJ dana 30 and TJ's are similar where they are normal cut gears, but due to the TJ's having crush sleaves on teh pinion instead of the shims, parts are not interchangable, and gear selection is less.
Yjs are similar in design to CJ's, but are reverse cut gears, better ground clearence, less gear selections.
they all have a 7 1/5" ring gear but the R&P ratio ranges supported by the carriers are 2.72-3.54 and 3.73-5.38 for the standard rotation and 2.73-3.54 and 3.73-4.88 for reverse rotation.

Okay so if I wait untill the winter is over and do it all at once what do you guys think about 4.88s Detroit rear/ECTED front with the Jeep sitting at around 5 3/4inches of lift with 33 or 34"" TruXus MTs?

yeah, like everyone has said, 4.88 is as low as you can go in a HP 30. if you have the stock Cherokee front in it, thats what you have.

I know but thats alright I don't think I'd go much lower for my DD anyway 4.88 is pretty damn low

4.88's will be alright with 34's, great on 35's, but probably too much for 33's. again, i would personally go with 4.88/34" because it will be good on the road, and better on the trail. also, if you go bigger in the future, you will be ok on the 4.88's up to about 37"(37's would ride like your 31's on stock gears) but if you dont like the size and think youll want to go smaller (or stick with 33's), go 4.56's.
think hard about what you will be doing with the jeep in the next few years. easy way to figure it out, if you think youll go with bigger tires down the road, go as deep as you can. if you think youll be happy with 33's, and dont see yourself going bigger than that, toss in the 4.56's

I can live with 33s that'd be fine..i think they look proportionally good on a lifted cherokee anyway. IF someday I wanted to run a 34", from what I have learned, still would not be that bad with 4.56s

replace your rear. a good cheaper candidtate would be an 8.8. u could even get one 4.11 from a junkyard and see how you like the 4.11.................

I'm sure the 8.8 is a good rear-end but seeing how many driveline problems my step dad had with his two Exploders I wouldn't put one in...Plus he'd shoot me because he now dispises Ford and drives around in his stupid FJ

do not do 4.56, i have 4.88's and 33's, and know plenty of other people that have the same thing, i daily drive my jeep and it is fine. it does not rev too high, anybody that tells you that most likely does not have it installed in THEIR jeep, they are just going by heresay
do 4.88 and be done with it, you will be kicking yourself if you do 4.56

AYoung will you answer a couple of my questions so I can make my final decisions?
I'm just wondering how it is to cruise at 65-70? How is it uphil? Around town querks? gas mileage? thanks a bunch man..I'm leaning towards 4.88 but those are the things that are holding me back.
Andrew ps. thanks to everyone so far I've learned a lot! and... I knew the 8.25 could only hold up to 4.56 but does anyone know what the max is on a DTurdy5? Not worth regearing but I was just wondering can I take higher then an 8.25?

I agree with what has been said here..also if i recall you have a lok-rite sitting in my garage....there nothing wrong with using that in the front. Buy gears and maybe another lok-rite for the rear and then save for the install.
Also i think 5 and 3/4 inches of lift is too much for 33's, stay at 4.5 until you are sure you want 35's
And one other thing to think of, and i dont want to sound condescending at all...but you should really just keep it how it is for a while, maybe throw that lok-rite in and wheel it. Its much better to get experience wheeling and build your jeep as you gain experience, both with wheeling and wrenching.

At 65-70mph on highway the rpms are right around 2500, not bad at all in my opinion gas mileage is good, i consistently get 15mpg ish, slightly higher on all highway It rarely needs to downshift unless it is a decent hill, and then it just down shifts and climbs, i drove with the 3.55 for a bunch of months, and it use to constantly switch between overdrive and 3rd, which it no longer does Around town, the 4.88 is absolutely awesome, only quirks i have are from the spool
i would do what dan says, throw the lockrite in the front and regear both ends and your street drving will only improve and your trail performance will be much better, just leave the rear open for right now....then later on down the road you can put in a lunchbox if you want
if you take out the cost of full carrier replacement lockers you take over a grand off your re-gear cost
I personally did not want to throw too much money into a d30/d44 combo, i will spend my money on bigger axles later in life

Okay so I will keep the height I'm at, buy my self new shocks since the 3" lift shocks are not liking 5", SYE+DShaft since its also not liking 5", and then shoot to regear, 4.88 style ;D
If by some magic I was able to pick up a rear full case after my gears are installed i'm going to have to pay the regear price over again huh? that could suck..thats why I wanted to wait
