So last weekend I blew up my terraflex tracbar, blew my rustys one up 5 months ago. Not having good luck with the aftermarket bars. Can anyone see a reason I shouldent just weld up a custom bar with a couple heims and DOM? Is there a reason the aftermarket ones all run a bushing, ex. is it going to ride like a sledge hitting my frame with only heims? I'd like to relocate it over the axle anyway.

mine does not have a single bushing, does that help?
also how iutragouse would a four link be?

I figured you wouldent even have a tracbar with a YJ, but anyhow a 4-link front on a cherokee can be a real pain, plus i'd need to go full hydro. I get plenty of front end flex with the longarms I built. I figure a piece of DOM with weld in nutserts and a couple heims should work well for my application as long as there isnt a dampening issue?

i would be more interested in what is causing your breakage problem rather than worrying about if you can build your own trackbar. i ran that trackbar on my xj for 2 yrs before you got it and you broke real quick.

you try cycling your suspension to see if your trac bar is binding somewhere that could be tearing apart the bushing or putting stress on the tre?

The bushing was going before i did the run but it got cremated during the run. I've wanted to move the bar above the axle so now seems to be a good time.

i was thinking about your (my old) trac-bar. that one only had about 250 mile son it when i sold it to you. so you got some issues with the frt end of your jeep. and tera is life time warranty. i got it at lou's (the LAST thing i would EVER buy from him) i would give him a call and just say your me and get a new one under warranty.

agreed if your breaking them this much, and it is just your jeep having these issues, you have another issueat hand. I am not too farmiliar with xj trac bars, but you said move it to the top of the axle, where is it located stock?

underneath right under the pass side spring perch, i agree you might have some issues, but if you use hiems and build a new mount over the axle you shouldnt have to worry about any of these issues. My bet would be that when th eaxle drops your binding on the top of where the TB mounts on the axle side, which is crushing the bushing, maybe not, just a thought. Well the bad balljoint and hub i replaced in the last week could have been prematurely wearing my tracbar bushing I guess. The rustys bar broke beacuse of poor design, not from my front end binding. We will see how ambicious i get over the next couple weeks, got a lot of school going on.

you could keep the original bracket on the "frame" and drill it out for a bolt, and then use a heim joint at that end..the stock rustys end isnt the strongest design
